Celebrate 30 years of Goomeri Pumpkin Festival with the biggest Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™ ever! Compete for eternal glory among hordes of 'Pumpkin Rollers' as you send your pumpkins racing, splattering and hurtling down Policeman's Hill. With our biggest ever prize pool on offer, make sure to register and compete for the highly coveted position of Pumpkin Roll Champion and have your name listed on the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Honour Roll. This event is proudly supported by Gympie Regional Council.

Online Registrations: Open Sunday 8 February 2026 @ 6:00pm

In-Person Registrations: Open Sunday 31 May 2025 @ 9:00am - 1:30pm

PRIZES

Open (All Ages)

  • Champion: $5,000 cash, trophy, rosette, & perpetual plaque on GAPR Honour Roll

  • Runner-Up: $500 cash & rosette

Junior Prizes (Best performed 12 years & under)

  • Champion: $500 cash, trophy, rosette, & perpetual plaque on GAPR Honour Roll

  • Runner-Up: $100 cash & rosette

Lucky Spot

$10,000 cash will be awarded to any whole pumpkin which lands and stays on the 'Lucky Spot' until the conclusion of the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™. If more than one pumpkin is on the Lucky Spot at the end of the roll, prize money will be split between competitors. The Lucky Spot will be marked on the day by our Pumpkin Whisperer.

Highlights from the 2025 Great Australian Pumpkin Roll™

RULES

  • Competitors must assemble at the start line at 1:30pm for marshalling. 8 pumpkin rollers at a time in queued order. 

  • Pumpkins may be pushed, rolled or bowled using an under-arm technique. No throwing or over-arm bowling is allowed.

  • A competitor will be disqualified if:

    • their pumpkin leaves the marked track​

    • the competitor crosses the start line or part thereof

    • after the start, the pumpkin is touched by anyone.

  • Competitors/spectators cannot enter the designated pumpkin track at any time during or following the roll, until the results are recorded.

  • He/she who rolls their pumpkin the furthest, while remaining within the defined boundaries, wins.​

CONDITIONS

  • The competition is open to all ages.

  • Competitors aged 12 years & under may purchase a Junior-priced ticket, and will be eligible for both Junior & Open prizes

  • If there is any doubt, proof of age will be required.

  • Pumpkins must accompany competitor at time of registration. You are given a Pumpkin as part of your entry fee, or BYO.

  • Pumpkins must be at least 12cm in diameter.​​

  • Each pumpkin will bear the identification of the festival organising committee.​

  • If a pumpkin is deemed to be too big for the safety of the roll, it will not be registered.
